இன்று இரவு 8 மணி. மெல்லிய பனித்துளிகள் விழியும், வெப்பநிலை -5°C ஆகக் குறைந்திருக்கிறது. Walmart கடையின் கார் நிறுத்தும் இடத்தில் என் Nissan காரில் நான் இருக்கிறேன். என் குழந்தை மிகவும் வசதியாக தனது காரின் சீட்டில் உட்கார்ந்து, தன்னுடைய விருப்பமான நிகழ்ச்சியை பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறான். கனடாவில் நாம் ஆரம்பத்தில் அனுபவித்த நாட்கள் என் நினைவில் வந்து கொண்டிருக்கின்றன. பிப்ரவரி 2019இல் பனியால் மூடப்பட்ட ஒரு மாலை Toronto விமான நிலையத்தில் இறங்கியதையும், எங்கள் வாழ்க்கையை மேம்படுத்தும் நம்பிக்கையுடன் மட்டும் வந்ததையும் நான் இன்னும் மறக்கவில்லை. இன்று வரை வந்துள்ளேன்; என்னைப் போலவே பலரும் இந்த கடினமான காலநிலையில் தங்களின் கனவுகளை அடைய போராடிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள். முந்தைய காலங்களில் நாம் சந்தித்த சவால்கள் எங்களுக்கு வாழ்க்கையை எப்படி வெற்றிகரமாக நடத்துவது என்பதை கற்றுத்தந்தன. அந்த நாட்களில் பஸ்ஸில் பயணம் செய்வது ஒரு அவசியமாக இருந்தது; இன்று கார் வைத்திருப்பது ஒரு அரிய ஆசீர்வாதமாக இருக்கிறது. அருகிலேயே ஒரு ஆடம்பரமான கார் நிறுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது. ஒரு நாளில் அதைப் பெறுவதும் என் கனவுகளில் ஒன்றாகவே இர...

It’s 8:00 PM with snow flurries and -5°C, sitting in my Nissan car parked in the Walmart parking lot, with my kid cozy in his car seat, watching some random show he likes. I’m recalling our early days in Canada and still remember landing at Toronto airport on a snowy evening in February 2019, carrying nothing but hopes for a better life. Fast forward to today, I see people similar to me running after their dreams in this harsh climate. The challenges we faced in the past have taught us survival. For us, traveling by bus was a necessity with no other option, and today, owning a car is a blessing. I see a luxury car parked in a nearby spot. I surely dream of owning a luxury car, but I always cherish the good old days that taught me valuable lessons about this climate, including a wrist fracture.
